Everything is about going International now

I hadn't really paid attention before, but as of late I've started to notice a large scale need to go international for both people and associations in the United States. Let me explain, I was just talking with someone here in Beijing how the recent add on to the LA Lakers (in the US) was a Chinese CBA Basketball "Star" named Sun. But, it wasn't until recently that a local Chinese person told us his perspective on Sun, calling him a horrible player with not much talent. Of course he has to have some talent (and height?) to have played on the CBA and even in the Olympics, but I feel even then he didn't get that much play time, comparative to other Chinese "All-Stars". Then, we started discussing how it was the goal of the Lakers to try to expand their fan club to the more populous regions of China, particularly the capital Beijing and then Guangzhou in the South, the hometown of a surprisingly large amount of ABCs! HAH! But I don't think it's only the Lakers that are trying to expand, but other teams like the Warriors and the Bucks who played here in Guangzhou on the 15th and will play HERE in Beijing on the 17th.

But then I guess my other examples aren't that great. Kanye West, Avril Lavigne, and Linkin Park are all coming, and putting on the same show as was in the states. Earlier this month I heard about Kanye West and his Glow in the Dark Tour. Not only is he following me, but furthermore, he's following me to China. You'd think that he wasn't that popular over here, considering I don't know what his appeal is to un-English speakers, but I guess the hip-hop rap movement is making its way with a much stronger force in China now...though I haven't really heard of "famous" hip-hop artists in China. I was looking on a website that rates if events are "buzz worthy" and his was rated as really buzzy or something like that...And then upon looking up tickets, costs, and seating, the tickets, while some have student prices of 280 kuai (divided by 7 is US), were all sold out within seconds, just like the states. I remember when reserving tickets in bulk to sell in the states was fast business, but here, with a larger stadium, it was still incredibly fast. All the cheaper seats sold out like nothing, making me wish that I had planned it out right and reserved some student tickets somehow and sold them to students here. Oh well.

Go Warriors!
